It may be commonly referred to as devil's bush, Siberian ginseng, or eleuthero. The scientific name Eleutherococcus (from Greek) means free-berried, while senticosus (from Latin) comes from sentis, an adjective meaning thorny or full of underbrush or thorns. The root is a useful part of the plant. To prepare tea: Place one teaspoon of the root in a cup of boiling water for 10 minutes. Strain and drink up to 3 times daily.
