Household oils, machine oil, and grease can seriously damage your latex clothing; keep them away. 2. Extreme heat melts latex (radiators, candles, etc.). 3. Sunlight causes discoloration. Do not expose latex to sunlight for extended periods. 4. Water and high humidity can damage and discolor latex. Keep it dry. 5. Metal, including pennies and other items, can leave stains on latex. Keep latex away from metal. 6. Sharp objects, including long fingernails, can easily cause holes or tear your latex garment. 7. Sweat damages latex over time. Keep it clean. 8. Leather can also damage and weaken your latex. Washing Latex Fill a bucket with lukewarm water, add one or two drops of shampoo, and wash your latex in it. Then rinse it thoroughly with clean water so that no shampoo residue remains. Hang it on a wooden or plastic clothes hanger and allow it to dry inside and out. Storing Latex Store it away from sunlight. After washing, allow your latex to dry thoroughly, then polish it with water-based silicone oil or apply a small amount of talcum powder to the inside.
