Matching neck cover for Bucas Smartex Turnout Classic Cut turnout blankets. The neck cover is secured to the blanket on the left and right with hook-and-loop strips. It closes at the front of the neck with two hook-and-loop fasteners and is adjustable in size. Like the blanket, the neck cover is waterproof, windproof, breathable, and suitable for a broad temperature range. The blanket is not included; only the neck cover is included. Material and features The outer material of the neck cover, like the blanket, is made of ballistic nylon. A layer of Stay-Dry fabric is incorporated between the outer shell and the lining, supporting the neck cover's breathability. The neck cover is lined with a silky-soft polyester fabric to help prevent chafing. Why use a neck cover? A horse's neck contains some of its largest muscles, and it is important to keep these muscles warm in winter. Horses lose a great deal of heat through the neck, and the neck muscles take longer to warm up in winter. A neck cover keeps this area warm and thereby reduces the risk of the horse losing muscle or straining its neck muscles. It helps maintain the neck muscles throughout a long winter. A neck cover also prevents rainwater from running into the blanket, as it simply runs off the outside of the blanket.
