Plants in the aquarium photosynthesize only when the lights are on, and therefore consume dissolved CO2 only during this time. At night, plants do not absorb CO2; instead, they release some through respiration. A nighttime shutoff prevents carbon dioxide from entering the aquarium from the CO2 system overnight. This saves CO2 and helps ensure that the CO2 level in the aquarium does not become critical. Excess carbon dioxide can pose a serious problem for aquarium fish and invertebrates, making a nighttime shutoff a useful addition to a CO2 system. Used together with a timer, which must be ordered separately, the quiet, normally closed NatureHolic solenoid valve reliably switches off the CO2 system in a planted aquarium or aquascape overnight. Ideally, set the valve to close when the aquarium light switches off and reopen when the light switches on again. The energy-saving NatureHolic solenoid valve can be used with single-use or refillable CO2 systems and with citric-acid CO2 systems. It is not suitable for yeast-based bio-CO2 systems. The valve is suitable for all standard 4/6 mm CO2 tubing. It can be securely installed in the CO2 tubing line using the quick connectors with union nuts. Alternatively, it can be screwed directly onto the fine needle valve on the pressure reducer for a more stable connection. A clearly visible arrow indicates the CO2 flow direction from the system toward the aquarium and helps with correct installation. The NatureHolic solenoid valve is designed for particularly quiet operation and does not produce an annoying hum. It also does not become excessively warm. The internal components are made of stainless steel, while the housing and connections are made of nickel-plated brass. All seals are made of ethylene propylene diene monomer rubber (EPDM). Included: solenoid valve with 1.50 m power cable and Schuko plug according to protection class IP65, quick connectors with union nuts, and EPDM seals.
