Unlike other types of honey, forest honey is not made from flower nectar, but from honeydew, which can come from both deciduous and coniferous trees. This origin makes forest honey especially distinctive. It has a high concentration of minerals, enzymes, and fructose. The strong, dark forest honey has a robust, spicy flavor in contrast to mild blossom honeys, making it a unique product. Forest honey contains essential oils and is therefore also said to help treat inflammation in the bronchial area. Labella forest honey comes from the Jaln Valley region of Spain, located inland from the Costa Blanca between two mountain ranges. This agriculturally oriented region is known for the natural cultivation of grapes, almonds, olives, oranges, grapefruit, lemons, and various vegetables. Labella honey is generally cold-extracted at room temperature, helping to preserve its nutrients and flavor. Labella is a fourth-generation agricultural family business from Xal-Jaln, Spain, inland from the Costa Blanca. The company specializes in beekeeping with its own bee colonies and olive oil production. All Labella foods are produced with conscientious, traditional handcrafting.
