Is your new sofa being damaged by your pet? If your cat has quickly worn out the rope on its scratching post while the structure is still in good condition, you can repair it instead of replacing the entire post. With this sisal rope and some adhesive, you can make the old scratching post look like new again. To repair a scratching post, tie a secure knot at the bottom of the post tube and wrap the rope tightly around the tube. Finish with another tight knot. A hot glue gun can also be used to secure the rope. Attach the beginning and end of the rope to the tube with hot glue, applying glue around the post as needed. When you are satisfied with the result, cut the rope and let it dry overnight. Alternatively, use a few small nails approximately every 5 inches; glue is not required, making the rope easier to replace later. For a DIY cat project, find a suitable support such as a tube or branch. Staple and glue the rope at both ends, then apply hot glue at intervals along the entire length of the support. Once you are satisfied with the appearance, cut the rope and let it dry overnight. Your cat can then play with its new toy. Tips: Wear gloves when working with the rope. If you have catnip, place some under the rope while wrapping it around the support. This may encourage your cat to use the scratching post instead of scratching elsewhere.
