With Wel-Pac Dashi Kombu, you can prepare authentic vegetarian dashi soup using dried kombu kelp. This kombu kelp adds a rich, natural umami flavor to Japanese cuisine. Dashi kombu is used in many Japanese dishes, including soups, salads, and meat and vegetable dishes. Ingredients: Kelp (kombu) Directions: To prepare kombu dashi (for 600 ml of broth), carefully wipe a piece of kombu kelp measuring approximately 5 x 7 cm with a cloth. Place the kombu kelp in a pot with 3.5 cups of water and let stand for 6 to 8 hours. Simmer over low heat and remove the kombu kelp shortly before boiling. Use approximately 2 teaspoons (about 11.1 g) of broth per person. Store in a cool, dry place away from light. After opening, store in an airtight container and use promptly. Warning: Do not expose to direct sunlight. Caution: High in iodine. Seaweed naturally contains high levels of iodine. Consuming large amounts per day may cause health problems, including an overactive thyroid. Follow the preparation instructions.
